A walk into spring

A walk into spring

Spring never really arrives all at once. It starts quietly.

When we began thinking about this year’s spring window at Mel Living, we didn’t start with products or colours. Instead, we went for a walk.

Just outside the city, the forest was beginning to change. The ground was still cool and messy from this year´s storms, but everywhere there were small signs of the new season arriving. We spent the morning collecting twigs and branches, simple pieces of nature that already carried the feeling of spring.

This is, in many ways, what Nordic living is about.
Not decorating against nature, but decorating with it.

Back at the shop, those branches became the starting point of our display. We placed them gently in a basket across the window and filled a few small glass vases with magnolia flowers. One of the most beautiful signs that spring has truly begun.

Because of the nature of a window display, the magnolia flowers we used are artificial. This allows the display to remain beautiful for longer while still capturing the delicate look of magnolia in bloom. Their soft shapes and pale tones bring the same feeling of early spring, even if the flowers themselves are not freshly cut.

Magnolia is special. Its flowers arrive before the leaves, almost floating on bare branches, creating a softness that feels both fragile and powerful at the same time.

The tiny vases allow each branch to stand on its own, simple and light, letting the natural shapes speak for themselves. Nothing forced, nothing excessive, just small details that bring the outside world into the space.

And of course, spring had to greet you before you even stepped inside.

At the entrance, the door was decorated with a few of the branches we gathered, lightly arranged with a handful of flowers. A quiet welcome to the new season.

Because sometimes the most beautiful decoration is simply nature itself.

If you pass by the shop in the coming days, take a moment to look at the window. The magnolias may not last forever that’s part of their charm, but for now they are here, reminding us that spring has arrived.

And that sometimes the best inspiration begins with a walk in the forest.

Live with nature. Live Nordic.
